Snowmobile Trail Reports

Reported by: Ron Wentzel Wed March 03, 2010, 07:58
Snowmobile Club: Cross Country Cruisers
Trail Conditions: Fair - Very Good
Snow Depth:

The trails are still open and they are very good in the woods and away from the sunshine. The trails that follow a road are poor at best with the sun melting the snow and ice base. I met some Snowmobilers at pit stop #5 in Arbor Vitae who had just come from the Sayner area and they stated that the trails were not as bad as they had thought they might be. This might be the last good week for riding as the temps for next weekend will approach the 40's. Be safe and stay to the right on the trails. Twenty deaths are enough for one year.

Not much to report on the Trail conditions around Minocqua area. They did receive 2-3" of LES yesterday to help the wooded trails. The road trails are still very thin from last weeks sunny days. Corners still have ice so slow down and stay right.

Snowmobile Club: Cross Country Cruisers
Trail Conditions: Good
Snow Depth:

The Trails are rated as good at this time. The wet heavy snow of last week coupled with a few inches of LES has improved the riding. The corners are becoming a little icy so use caution. The lakes are a bit bumpy but slush is not a problem. Stay close to the orange barrels. Make plans now to attend the 10th annual "Cruiserfest" on Feb 12th, & 13th. See http://www.snowmobilewi.com/2010_Cruiserfest.html for more information. See You on the Trails.

Snowmobile Club: Cross Country Cruisers
Trail Conditions: Good
Snow Depth: 2-3" New Snowfall

The Northwoods did receive 2-3" of wet heavy snow Sunday night and Monday morning that has helped the trail conditions . The groomers our out panning the trails and with the cold weather expected the rest of the week and through the weekend, the trails should hold up well. Some light snow or flurries is in the forecast for the next few days. Trails to the north and west seem to be the best according to the Trail Boss. The Lakes are marked so stay close to the orange barrels and slow down to 10 MPH (DNR State law) when near ice fishing shanties or people walking. THINK SNOW!!!

Snowmobile Club: Cross Country Cruisers
Trail Conditions: Suffering
Snow Depth: Possible 3-5"

The past few days have been warm and the trails have suffered. It is snowing now as I write this report. The snow is wet and we could get 3-5". Grooming will start up again if we get this snow. Right now there are a lot of bare spots and dirt in most corners. I'm asking all of You do get going on Your Snow Dance to get the Trails back in top notch shape. The Lakes have been marked but a lot of slush has been reported by the locals. I will update this report in a couple of days.
